Environment Canada warns that winter weather, snow, and freezing rain are possible in northern Ontario

Northern Ontario is being advised to prepare for stormy weather conditions this weekend.

Environment Canada has issued several warnings and weather alerts for the region. People are advised to be aware of possible dangerous travel conditions.

Winter storm warnings have been issued for the Chapleau, Wawa, Timmins and Wawa areas. Between Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, snowfalls of between 10 and 20 cm are expected.

Snow is expected to move westward and the weather agency suggests that it could mix with freezing rain on Saturday night.

For Greater Sudbury, Elliot Lake and North Bay, there are freezing rain alerts. Marie, Manitoulin, Kirkland Lake will be open Saturday evening
