Wong Kam-sing, Secretary of the Environment, tested negative for Covid-19 on Sunday using a quick test kit after his driver tested positive.

It was confirmed that the driver went to work last Saturday. Wong will continue to work from home until he receives the results of a deep throat saliva testing.

According to the Environment Bureau, the driver was subject to a quick test on Sunday. The preliminary positive result was reported by the Bureau. According to Department of Health guidelines, he will send a deep-tissue saliva sample for testing.

The driver had never been in contact with the public or kept any records of travel. When he worked, he wore a mask and complied with anti-epidemic precautions.

Wong was scheduled for Sunday afternoon’s meeting with the mainland expert panels to present the territory-wide program of sewage monitoring. He now prefers to attend the meeting via video.
