Yesterday, Say Samal, Environment Minister, distributed Cambodia’s Long Term Strategy to Carbon Neutrality (LTS4CN), to the relevant institutions.
He stated that Cambodia has never before created a long-term strategy document to achieve carbon neutrality in 2050. This is consistent with the goal of making Cambodia a high income country by 2030, and a high middle-income country at 2050. He said that the book also contains other national environmental plans.
The book identifies six key areas, including agriculture, forestry and other land uses; energy; transportation; industry use and product use; as well as waste management. It is based both on science and the reality that Cambodia has been working towards reaching its carbon neutral goal in the next 30 years.
He stated that the book began with the leadership of an intelligence-rich country, which allows Cambodians to think about the environment and develop a long-term strategy to become carbon neutral.
Samal congratulated his working group for producing the book on time and in a successful manner. Samal also thanked the relevant partners for their contributions in publishing the book.
He said that the strategies in this book are a testament to Cambodia’s strong commitment towards its people and the entire world.
