The Honourable Bernard Davis has announced the following events related to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of Environmental Protection Act.

REGISTERED UNDERTAKINGS

Wych Hazel Pond Goat and Crop Farm 2188)
Proponent: Salty Creeks Agricultural Enterprise

The proponent plans on raising commercial goats and producing cole crops on the agricultural land adjacent to Wych Hazel Pond. This is within the Town of Conception Bay South, and City of St. Johns. Access to the site is possible via gravel roads that run along the Trans-Canada Highway near Thomas Pond. The project would require the construction of a steel-framed fabric building to house the goats, as well as a concrete manure pad and electric wire fencing. The proponent will not allow slaughtering or butchering to take place on site. Instead, a local third-party will be used for these activities. Construction is expected to start in Fall 2022. The undertaking was filed on February 17, 2022. The deadline for public comments is March 24, 2022. And, the minister’s decision is due by April 3rd 2022.

Rocky Pond Quarry (Reg. 2187)
Parsons Paving Ltd.

The proposal for a 25-hectare quarry and mobile asphalt facility is located approximately 800m east of Rocky Pond near the Foxtrap Access Road, Trans-Canada Highway Junction and within the municipal planning boundary of St. Johns. The project includes construction of an access road to the quarry area from Foxtrap Access Road, phased quarry development and operation of an asphalt plant. The undertaking was filed on February 16, 2022. The deadline for public comments is March 24, 2022. And, the ministers decision must be made by April 2, 2022.
