A new IoT-enabled device, which is transforming the industry that was previously hindered by technical difficulties in getting online, is changing this.
In-Situ, a remote water monitoring company, and cellular communications company EMnify have formed a new partnership to bring remote data collection capabilities into the environmental monitoring industry.
The partners have combined their technologies to create VuLink, a cellular telemetry solution that can be used at almost all customer sites and allows for real-time data collection over extended distances. The new device can be used to remotely monitor water quality and set up remote monitoring. This is a significant breakthrough considering the difficulties associated with connectivity management and setup.
Around 90% of data collection devices in environmental monitoring require in-person visits to data collection locations. The new device boasts a sixfold increase of battery life, further reducing the need to perform manual maintenance.
Using EMnifys LTE-M cellular connectivity and global IoT sim,In-Situ’s latest offering has been launched in 50 countries. Matt Trumbo, director of product development, said that the rollout was a huge success.
“As we moved to support LTE-M and NB-IoT with VuLink, EMnify was very committed and had clear plans that aligned with our launch timeline. Frankly, other providers we had talked to did not,” said Trumbo.
EMnifys IoT Network is currently the largest. The groups API and SIM technology connect and secure any kind of IoT implementation to its application back-end.
“At EMnify, we’re committed to enabling the next generation of IoT devices by creating cellular connectivity technologies that just work, with frictionless deployment, low energy usage, and low per-device connectivity costs,” said Christian Rodatus, EMnify COO. “We’re thrilled to be enabling In-Situ as they bring industry-leading IoT monitoring solutions into some of the world’s most challenging and remote environments.”
