According to a press release by CAHSRA, February 25, a 90-mile section of the route connecting San Jose and Merced Project in Northern California will be considered for approval at a board meeting on April 20-21.
According to the press release, “In the San Jose-Merced Project Section high-speed trains will travel through and near the cities Santa Clara, San Jose and Morgan Hill, Gilroy, Los Banos and connect Silicon Valley and the Central Valley.” “The preferred alternative alignment is to upgrade the rail lines running between San Jose and Gilroy and build a new high-speed rail line with more than 15 miles through Pacheco Pass, in the Diablo Range.”
