Evers establishes a new office for environmental justice

Gov. Tony Evers has signed an executive decree creating a new office for environmental justice. The announcement was made on Earth Day

The office was removed from Evers’ budget proposal by Republicans last year.

The Democrat running for reelection in November managed to get around them by creating it through an executive decree on Friday.

The new office will integrate with the existing Office of Sustainability and Clean Energy.

The goal is to encourage collaboration between state agencies in order to promote environmentally-just policies.

This week, Evers released the first state-wide clean energy plan.
