Farley Augustine, chief secretary of Tobago House of Assembly has expressed concern over the Nylon Pool parties taking place on weekends.
Augustine stated that while he recognized that many citizens would be frustrated by previous lockdown measures, safety should not be compromised.
He urged you to protect yourself and the environment.
Augustine stated that the islands secretary for Tourism has already met with the TTPS in order to develop plans for the Easter holidays. This is because economic activity is vital for the island.
Because the truth is that we need the economy open, we require Caribbean Airlines to return normalcy with flights between the two islands, and our hotel rooms need to be filled to capacity, we also need the business.
He stated that the TTPS is also considering increasing patrols. He also noted that two patrolboats are planned to be integrated into Tobagos Police Service. This would mean they wouldn’t have to ask a fishing boat operator to use their boat.
He said that the boats will be used for patrolling areas like the Nylon pool and that those who endanger the environment’s health will be held accountable.
Junior Benjamin, Senior Superintendent in Police in Tobago, confirmed Wednesday that his officers had already planned for the island’s anticipated activity and will also be reaching to Trinidadian counterparts for help.
We have already taken steps to prepare for the Easter vacation crowds. We will be able to get additional security from Trinidad to help our staff, as well as any other options that we have.
