Friday’s environmental festival in Manistee

MANISTEE Manistee County residents can learn about how companies are working to improve our environment at an upcoming festival.

The inaugural Great Lakes Environmental Festival will be held at the Vogue Theatre on Friday, Earth Day.

The meet and greet will take place at 9:50 a.m. This event is free and open to all.

“Great Lakes: One Water for Life” premieres at 10 a.m. The documentary features the observations of water quality experts and introduces One Water Movement as a strategy for treating water as an asset.


Short Q and A will follow the film. Nearly 80 math, science, technology, engineering, and engineering students will be there. They have submitted questions, which will be directed towards the panel.

The environmental panel discussion will take place from 11 a.m. to noon. The panel will feature representatives from Nalco Water, Morton Salt and Martin Marietta Magnesia Specialties as well as representatives from Packaging Corporation of America, Morton Salt and Morton Salt. After the panel discussion, there’ll be a Q & A and closing remarks.

Anyone who wishes to offer suggestions for the 2023 Great Lakes Environmental Festival, is invited to attend a luncheon and discussion from noon until 2 p.m. at the Manistee Inn or Marina.
