GFL Environmental Inc. Announces Consent Judgement with Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy

VAUGHAN, ON, March 10, 2022 /PRNewswire/ – GFL Environmental Inc. (NYSE: GFL) (TSX: GFL) (“GFL” or the “Company”) announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary, Arbor Hills Landfill, Inc (“Arbor Hills”) has agreed to a Consent Judgment with EGLE to resolve issues raised in a complaint filed by EGLE in late October 2020. The complaint was related to the smells at the landfill during the period between January 2018, November 2019,. Although the incidents in this complaint were not related to Arbor Hills’ acquisition by GFL, October 30, 2020GFL also agreed to the Consent Judgement, in accordance with its commitments to the surrounding communities.

GFL also agreed with GFL to undertake three additional environmental projects in connection to the settlement of the enforcement case in Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy, Inc. to enforce both state and federal laws. The three projects include the establishment a new household hazardous waste drop off program at the landfill to run by Washtenaw CountyThe installation of a state of the art perimeter emissions monitoring system and the construction of a vegetative barrier in two locations facing Napier Road.
