Broken Rules, an Austrian indie developer, will soon allow players to swing their way through nature in Gibbon Beyond The Trees. This is the upcoming Apple Arcade game. Two Apple Design Award winners, the developers will soon be bringing their ecological adventure to Apple Arcade starting February 25th.
Gibbon: Beyond the Trees allows players to experience a dynamic movement system that lets them slide and swing through beautiful hand-painted scenes as a lost gibbon. The titular primate, eager to find its way back home, must navigate through the jungle with its increasing destruction and deal with real-world environmental problems along the way.
“This project was inspired by the movement of apes through the jungle. Brachiation (or swinging from branch-to-branche) seemed to us to be pure freedom.,” says Felix Bohatsch, CEO of Broken Rules. “We realized that gibbons are not just about their current existence in the world. There was more to the story. Gibbons are struggling to survive due to poaching, deforestation, and the climate crisis. We wanted the game’s purpose to honor their struggle and give wildlife a voice within the gaming community.”
Gibbon: Beyond the Trees will be available for those who are eager to give it another go. Apple ArcadeFebruary 25th. The subscription costs $4.99 per monthly and comes with a free one-month trial.
