Green Orillia is excited to invite all to our Community Spring Garbage Cleanup Event on Sunday, April 24.
Since Friday April 22 is Earth Day, and April 22-24 is Yours To Protect WeekendThere are events being held by local groups throughout the province to raise awareness about environmental issues. This Sunday is the ideal day for a community trash cleanup.
Madeleine Fournier, Green Orillia, is able to collect your litter bags from the clean-up.
This will be Green Orillia’s fourth community garbage cleanup event and the second annual springtime cleanup.
Anyone wishing to take part Sunday is asked to arrive at the Orillia Public Library courtyard around 10 a.m. Bags will be provided but participants are encouraged bring their own gloves, pickers and other items to help with the cleanup.
A community meeting/discussion is held before the garbage pickup begins. It will include a group picture and an Indigenous land acknowledgment by Luana, a local Indigenous knowledge carriers and land/water protector.
