haryana – Japan eager to work with Haryana on environmental and climate issues

According to an official statement, Japan expressed keen interest in technical support and collaboration with Haryana on environmental and climate issues.

Yuki Yoshida Secretary, Environment, Embassy Japan, visited Aravalli Mountains at Bhondsi (Gurgaon) to explore the potential to set up a center for excellence in climate change and waste management.

Advisor to Haryana chief Minister for Foreign Cooperation Department Pawan Chaudhary, and Managing Director and former country representative, International Union for Conservation of Nature, Dr Vivek Saxena, discussed potential areas of collaboration and partnership, it further stated.

According to the Haryana government statement, Ashwin, a senior official from the Climate Change Division of German Technical Cooperation (an international cooperation agency), assured cooperation for technical as well as financial assistance from Germany on issues related to environment. Minal Pahuja, Head of IUCN India’s Business and Biodiversity Programme and Leaders for Nature Programme, expressed her desire to partner with IUCN India in addressing sustainable challenges.
