A Perthshire outdoor adventure company was recognized for its litter-picking efforts in national awards.
Beyond Adventure near Aberfeldy was shortlisted for an environment gong at British Canoeing Delivery Partner Awards. The body will determine if it is a winner at its annual conference on January 27.
Ross Dempster (Managing Director of Beyond Adventure) tweeted his joy at being shortlisted for the top spot in Committed to the Environment.
Ross, who is very proud of Beyond Adventure’s nomination for this award, said that he was.
We put a lot into helping the environment locally. It is always nice to be recognized for your hard work.
Ross often hosts free canoe days where people can come along to pick up rubbish from the riverbanks.
His kayaks, and paddle boards, often pass abandoned plastic and bottles of drinks stuck in the undergrowth along River Tay.
The business owner has partnered up with Keep Scotland Beautiful this past year to implement a local project. He also has participation with Planet Patrol, a global movement that promotes environmental awareness in Highland Perthshire.
The outdoor adventure company also tries to avoid creating its own mess.
Ross explained that we aim to be carbon-neutral and work with Trees for Life each year to plant trees to offset our annual emissions.
We take people camping with a responsibility to the environment. We use low-pollution, energy-efficient vehicles and recycle all paper and cardboard.
