WASHINGTON (Reuters, March 28th, 2008) – A U.S. official stated Monday that intelligence suggests that the sickenings of Roman Abramovich, a billionaire from Russia, and Ukrainian peace negotiators, was not due to poisoning but an environmental factor.

The Wall Street Journal and Bellingcat, which cited people familiar with the matter reported that Abramovich had been suffering symptoms of poisoning and that the negotiators had also experienced poisoning symptoms earlier in the month following a meeting in Kyiv. Continue reading

The U.S. official stated to Reuters that “the intelligence highly suggests that this was environment,” and that poisoning was not the reason. The official spoke under anonymity and declined to give more details.
