IRS Statement: Providing Meaningful Help to Taxpayers In Current Environment

Jan. 27, 2022 at 5:00 AM

The IRS announced Jan. 27 that it had added ways to provide tax professionals and taxpayers with important relief. The IRS announced that it will require overtime from IRS employees to get through the backlog in unprocessed returns. It will also re-deploy employees between functions, transfer inventories between posts of duty, and deploy experienced surge teams. The IRS stated that additional steps include suspending the issuance and related actions of certain automated notices. Not all notices must be sent within a specified time frame. However, the IRS is looking into areas where it could make it possible to do so.
