Highlights from the ESG Report

This report describes how JBT helps customers reduce their environmental footprint. We also discuss how we operate our own facilities safely and efficiently. Finally, we describe how we make it a workplace that welcomes everyone and strives to maximize their potential. The following are key highlights:

Sustainable Solutions

  • Our equipment and services portfolio includes a number of products and technical support programs that allow our customers to make a positive impact on the environment. These include increasing yields, conserving food, ensuring food safety and facilitating alternative fuels and automating processes. 48% of our product revenues are from equipment that has an environment benefit for our customers.
  • Our AeroTech Division set a goal of increasing electric-powered airport ground support equipment sales to 30% by 2023. This is a goal that will take less than 5% off total vehicle sales in 2020. In 2021, we also launched three new electric vehicles: JBT Commander 30iE, JBT All Electric B650 E tow tractor and JBT LEKTRO tow car.

Operation

  • We performed a climate-related risk and opportunity assessment and shared our findings in accordance with the Task Force on Climate Related Finance Disclosures (TCFD).
  • We have bought an enhanced utility billing management platform, which will increase our ability to manage and report on all aspects of utility consumption and emissions across our global operations.
  • As we strive to increase transparency about our environmental footprint, we have reported our water footprint for the first time.

People

  • Our first global employee engagement survey was launched. We received responses from around 65% of our employees. We distributed the data to our managers, who used the information to identify opportunities to improve our engagement with JBT employees.
  • To continue the JBT Inclusive Leader Series (ILS), we partnered with a DEI industry leader. The ILS is a quarterly training program for top leaders of the company. It focuses on providing structured, interactive leadership training sessions with the primary goal of helping JBT leaders integrate inclusive practices into their management.
  • Our first twelve Tom Giacomini Engineering scholarships were awarded to students who are pursuing degrees in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering.
  • In conjunction with executive leadership sponsors, employees developed two pilot Employee Networking Communities (ENCs), Blacks/African-American in the U.S. and Women globally. These groups are designed to provide safe spaces for employees to build community with people who share a specific demographic.
  • Our Recordable Incident Rate (RIR), which measures the total number of injuries or illnesses per 100 employees over a full calendar year, was 0.79. This represents a 20% decrease from 2020.

Governance

  • We have appointed our first Chief Ethic and Compliance Officer, reporting to our Executive Vice President/General Counsel.
  • To ensure that ethics is a part of everything we do every day, we established a cross-functional Ethics and Compliance Committee in 2021. To raise awareness within the company, this committee will serve as our “ethics champions”.
  • We spent over $29 Million55 different suppliers provided products or services to our North American manufacturing locations.

Deck stated that Deck is still impressed by the tenacity of JBT employees, who take extraordinary steps to deliver results for customers, particularly in light of the challenging operating environments of recent years. JBT is proud that it is an integral part in the supply chains of many critical industry sectors. JBT provides solutions that enable our customers Make It Better and, in so doing, make our world a better place. We look forward to sharing our progress with you in the coming years.”
