Jefferson School hosts a virtual event about the intersection of justice and environment

CHARLOTTESVILLE (Va.) – Wednesday saw the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center host a virtual conversation about justice, climate and the environment.

Andrea Douglas, the executive Director of the JSAAHC discussed Zoom with Vernice Mille-Travis, the Metropolitan Group’s executive vice president and social justice lead.

Miller-Travis stated that her source of optimism for the near future is young people from all backgrounds. These are the same people who rallied for Black lives throughout 2020.

The conversation is being driven by young people, and they are driving our social consciousness on these issues. I was so surprised, she said.

This program was designed to be used in conjunction with the Jefferson Schools Picture Climate Justice exhibition.
