Jessica Ennis, Earthjustice Legislative director, joins the White House Council on Environmental Quality

Washington, D.C.

After 14 years of service at Earthjustice Jessica Ennis, Legislative director for Climate and Energy, will now join the White House Council on Environmental Quality as Director of Public Engagement. The following statement is from Earthjustice President Abigail Dillen:

Jessica’s work embodies Earthjustices values, which include partnership, inclusion, justice, and excellence. We are delighted that she will use her extensive experience and commitment to justice to help advance the bold climate and environmental justice agenda of the Biden administration. Her leadership will be a huge asset at this crucial moment when unprecedented action is required to ensure a livable future. Our government, communities and the planet will all benefit from her leadership. We are grateful to her untold contributions to Earthjustice. We will miss her as a friend and colleague. We look forward for all she will do at CEQ.

Jess was Earthjustices Legislative Direct for Climate and Energy. Her key role was to develop and advance equitable climate solutions at both the federal and state level. She was a champion for the first ever protections against methane pollution from oil and gas industries and she defended them when industry and their political allies attempted to repeal them. She was instrumental in establishing a Maryland community solar program that has increased access to clean energy. She was also involved in the creation of the Equitable and Just National Climate Platform. This platform brings together national and international justice organizations to promote climate solutions that center racial economic and environmental justice.
