Kirsten Einhorn – Respect for the Environment

We live in a beautiful area. When we return from trips in this area or abroad, my husband and me often look at each others and say, Lets remember how beautiful it is right now.

I have always loved the outdoors and hiking became a regular activity during the pandemic. I found so many beautiful nooks in the valley. It’s both saddening to see the amount of trash being discarded all around. It seems that rolling down the car’s window and lifting your can, bottle, or fast food container has become acceptable.

You can also drop your junk outside if you are unable to take it to the dump. The trash is more visible in the winter when it isn’t covered by snow or tall grass.

I was walking along a trail when I came across seven dog bags in black, blue, and green. Why is it important to bring a bag? To pick up the poop, tie a knot, and then drop it. It would be much easier to let your dog do its thing and just let it go? The end result is the same, except that the plastic bag is removed.

How can we ever solve the global environment crisis if we are so indifferent to our local environment?
