The first floor of Gundersen Hall is filled with a cacophony. Some are
Fluent speakers may be fluent while others may not be as fluent. However, that doesn’t matter in our Language Learning Center.

It’s a Thursday afternoon. This means that the Oklahoma State University Spanish Club will be open.
is in session. There are more than a dozen students who roam the large, open space.
Talking to a tutor, working on homework, or just chatting with friends.

Spanish Club has one rule: Learn as much Spanish as you can.
All students, regardless of their level of proficiency, are welcome to learn the language.
It is appreciated.

Spanish Club has been an enormous help to me. It takes an extra four hours each week, outside of class.
Jali Robertson from OSU, who is also the club’s president, said: I was very nervous the first time.
I was only able to go a few times. I was in my third Spanish class. It was mostly grammar.
We didn’t have to talk a lot. It is a great place for getting out of your comfort zone.
Zone with no judgment

Spanish Club students can also use the space.
Department of Languages and Literatures offered a prudent approach to creating the Language
Learning Center.

It was a space that had been neglected for several years. Now it is a large classroom.
There are also a few smaller tutoring rooms, as well as a common area with a snack bar.
For students to relax.

Dr. Erik Ekman (head of languages and literatures) said that the center was something that the center could be proud of.
department had been thought of since 2017, when there were still business classes.
Left for the new Business Building.

The center was originally scheduled to open in Spring 2020. However, COVID-19 took place. Now,
Students are beginning to take advantage of the space after a slow launch.
Ekman said that he sees students coming in and going out of school every day.

They make friends, they get community, and they have the opportunity to practice. The chance to exchange
Ekman gave information about their majors. … Clubs are a way to feel connected.
This makes it easier to learn the language even if you cannot travel abroad.

Most language classes deal with proper grammar. It is helpful to have a space outside.
It is important to practice it in the classroom.

This is because they spend a lot time in class answering specific questions.
This is one form communication that is important, according to Dr. Matthew O’Neill.
Spanish lecturer. Like formalized interaction, but the only thing that matters is the one that you do.
It is impossible to imitate conversational dynamics. That is all you can do.
By studying abroad and living in a language environment,
Where there are no grades and where nobody is having points tallied or anything similar,
that. It is what we try and emulate while we are here.

The Spanish Club used meet at the Daily before the Language Learning Center opened.
Grind coffee shop is located on campus. There is now a central space on campus.
Every club feels like a family when it meets on Mondays or Thursdays.

Apart from Spanish, there are many clubs offered by the Department of Languages and Literatures.
French, German, Japanese and Russian.

Robertson is a Fairview native and double majors in political science.
She studied global studies and Spanish, and she was interested in learning Spanish.
Another language in high school. Although it was hard work, she is confident.
She is confident in her fluency and believes that a place like The Language Learning Center helped her.
She found a place where she could practice, which has been a great help.

It is very encouraging to meet other students and put your learnings to good use.
Robertson said that language is the most important thing. You can discuss news stories and if you have watched them.
You don’t get to discuss this movie in class. It is
A place where you feel comfortable and safe. It can be intimidating to speak.
It is easier to speak in Spanish in a class than it is to simply talk about things.
Talk with your friends about.
