Sim criticized Democratic Party for failing in its promises to hire subcontractor employees as full-time workers in safety and life work, referring to Kim Yonggyun who died at Taean Thermal Power Plant alone in 2018.
The party had promised to hire some workers full-time after the accident, but it didn’t. Sim claimed that the promise was not kept even in the face of death.
Lee replied that he sympathizes fully with Sims awareness and pity and that he is also a victim in an industrial accident and disabled.
Social consensus is required for direct employment in work that is related to safety and life. Lee acknowledged that it was regrettable that the agreement could not be reached and asked Sim to form a united government for the next government.
Sim declined Lees suggestion and once again criticized the party. Even with 180 seats, the ruling party did not do anything. It is difficult to trust the party, as it repeats its promises only during elections. Lee replied that Lee Jae-myungs Democratic Party would be different.
Sim pushed Lee to hire workers full-time again, claiming that their mothers were watching the debate. Lee responded that it was not easy. Without legal grounds, it is difficult to force private sector workers.
