I would like you to tell me about an experience that I had on the waterfront at lunchtime.
I was at a senior citizen care facility when I saw a father take his daughter with him from her care home to the waterfront. She was sick and coughing. He used a disposable mask to blow her nose. The masks are always released to the wind from the garbage bin.
As two birds watched, she played with the rocks along the shoreline. Spreading germs.
It was only a brief exchange. I wished them a happy Easter as they headed back towards the Care Home to pick up their mother. I had already planted any Covid influenza germs among our flocks and wished them a happy Easter. I suspect mom works as a nurse in the facility. I can’t imagine how seniors would stand against what I saw, much less our beach and our birds.
I would have said something, but for the political climate and tensions in our community. I didn’t mean to hurt anyone. This father and child were hurting everything around me but they belonged to a minority group that would have suggested my views were biased.
My views were not biased if only because I endorse Leave No Trace.
She wouldn’t have touched the rocks. She would not have stepped onto the rocks.
He wouldn’t have left their mask behind.
They would have worn me masks.
