Jammu – As educational institutes reopen slowly amid a decline of COVID-19 case, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha Sunday stated that his administration will foster an interactive environment that is missing from online classes.
He was speaking at the Awaam Ki Awaaz, a monthly episode that he dedicated to young Union territory achievers. The radio programme was broadcast on DD Kashir. It was broadcast on All India Radio (AIR), in all local and primary channels in the UT.
Sinha stated that education and health are the most important responsibilities of the administration. He also said that while last year it had to prioritize health, this year, Sinha believes that with declining Covid cases, opening schools and creating happiness zones, the administration hopes to create an interactive environment in educational institutions that is missing in online classes.
Jammu division’s government schools have created happiness zones, which offer safe and psychologically comfortable spaces inside school buildings for students to talk about their feelings in a confidential way.
Responding to one caller’s suggestions, the LG said that the administration recognizes the need to provide students with psycho-social support and is taking positive steps to do so.
Responding to a suggestion about steps to be taken towards drug-free J&K he stated that the government is fully committed to strengthening the action framework, taking a firm stand against drug abuse, and providing practical solutions to build a drug free society.
Sinha stated that he wants every citizen to have equal opportunities to grow and to have reasonable and affordable access for basic amenities.
He also exhorted the people to contribute to the improvement of the society.
We need to strengthen our faith and inspire others to live virtuous lives. Let us all pledge today to follow the path for equality and social harmony and build a J&K that all sections of society can contribute to shaping the future of this beautiful UT.
Callers also suggested NCCs expansion, the introduction of philosophy in post-graduation at Kashmir University, development of Aharbal to be a more remote tourist destination, promotion of financial literacy, and launching an initiative to facilitate the delivery of financial services.
Sinha gave directions to the officials on these matters to take appropriate measures and incorporate these insights into their policies.
He also appreciated the suggestion to use PPP model as a bridge between digital divide and create an environment that encourages digital inclusion.
