Philip Dunne MP of LUDLOW, called for greener finance and more spending on the environment to mark Earth Day.
As chairman of the House of Commons Environmental Audit Committee (House of Commons), Mr Dunne joined MPs from Conservative Environment Network to call for investment in recovery programs and other measures to ensure the UK’s position as a global leader in green finance.
Earth Day was Friday, April 22nd when Mr Dunne made his remarks.
Today is Earth Day. The theme for this year’s Earth Day is to invest in our planet. That is why I am calling for further action on greening our financial system.
There have been positive steps taken, but there is still much to be done to prioritise the natural world in our financial system, and its investment decisions.
Not only are we trying to reduce our carbon footprints, but we also need to invest in nature to protect and restore biodiversity and wildlife that is at risk.
