Monday will see professional development for staff.
Khalil, who was previously an assistant principal at East High School before moving to McKinley, stated that Monday will be completely remote so our team can meet with staff about our new safety protocols and protocols. They also have the opportunity to do a few dry runs with staff to make sure our plan is ready for students.
Bringing back just one cohort of students each day will allow his team to meet with students, staff and parents to get their feedback on the new system while also providing positive relationship-building opportunities, Khalil said.
Khalil stated that they were able to meet with students in small groups and parents in person. “We will increase our parent meeting this coming week. We are going to schedule some and meet with teachers to discuss the plan. We believe it is the best plan possible. We brought in one group to meet with the children, listen to their opinions and get their feedback. Khalil stated that their emotional and social needs are at an all-time high.
McKinley stakeholders were informed Friday by the district that they will evaluate conditions and make “necessary adjustments” to the March 7-11 calendar.
