By Aaron Humes: The allegations of corruption and bribery to obtain favorable responses to their environmental impact assessment for Port Loyola’s cruise port are still concerning and, Minister of Sustainable Development, Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management Orlando Habet stated to the House, are a concern for his Ministry.

He said that they were only allegations at the moment, despite accusations of dishonesty against members the National Environmental Appraisal Committee.

Habet claimed that he had spoken virtually with Waterloos CEO, staff, and requested the evidence in writing. The Ministry did not send the evidence, and Habet followed up with the CEO, but nothing was found after 60 days.

Habet stated that he couldn’t authorize any investigation unless such information was produced.

Waterloo claimed that they weren’t given an opportunity for a review of their proposal to alter dumping of material dredged in the project’s vulnerable areas, as opposed by environmental groups.
