Doha: Today the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change announced that the winter camping season has ended for 2021-2022. Campers will have until May 14th to clear their sites. This allows them to continue their activity during the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
The Director of Public Relations at the Ministry Farhoud Hajri noted the success of this year’s camping season. He pointed out the cooperation of camp owner and their commitment towards the requirements and instructions to preserve the land and marine environment. Also, the cooperation of various ministries in the country regarding special requirements and procedures to maintain security, safety, health, and public safety for all camps.
Al Hajri, in a statement to Qatar News Agency(QNA), stated that the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change is determined to modernize winter camping season in the next years in order to fulfill its vision and mission.
He said that the ministry will launch a questionnaire via its website this year to get campers’ opinions before retrieving their insurance amount. Also, the ministry will conduct a preliminary study with Qatar University about the environmental impact and evaluation of camping seasons on the environment.
He asked all camps to demolish and remove all camps by the end of May 14th 2022. He indicated that the specialized environment teams would inspect the camps, follow-up, and take legal actions against any violations.
