Ministry of Environment launches campaign against plastic bags

The Ministry of Environment has launched a social media campaign to raise awareness about the dangers of single use plastics and to help us get rid of our addiction to them. You can put a lot of them in a drawer, and claim you are saving them for later. But what about the ones you will throw away anyway? Guess where they end?

The ministry’s efforts to reduce single-use plastics use include studies, policy development, raising awareness, encouraging community participation and receiving proposals from civil societies.

Recently, Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, announced that the national law on waste includes an article that regulates single-use plastic bags and that the ministry has created a national strategy for reducing plastic use. They are currently working to develop new regulations that will encourage the use of multi-use bags and offer sustainable alternatives that can also be presented to businesses.
