The Minot Public Library is partnering with the Environmentally Minded People of Minot to offer a free discussion program about Environmental Justice at 6:30 p.m. on the lower level of their library.
Environmental Justice 101 will be discussing how Environmental Justice affects both rural and suburban Americans.
“We are thrilled to have representatives from the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency at Wednesday’s event,”Tim Baumann, a founding member of Environmentally Minded People of Minot. Baumann believes that sharing information is important as education is a powerful tool. “The more we learn and understand as a community, the more we are able to create positive outcomes now and in the future.”
Janet Anderson, Library Director, stated that the Minot Public Library is blessed to have experts willing and able to share their knowledge.
“Our speakers will help people learn more about the history of Environmental Justice as well as key concepts related to EJ,”She explained. “It will be interesting to hear how these agencies integrate EJ into their work to protect human health and the environment and, hopefully, learn how we, as citizens, can help.”
Environmental Justice 101 is open for all ages. For more information, please call 852-1045.
