NEW JERSEY LCV CONGRATULATES MURPH AND OLIVER ON THE SECOND TIME, VICTORY Is A WIN FOR OUR ENVIRONMENT
TRENTON, NJ-New Jersey League of Conservation Voters is the leading political voice in New Jersey for the environment. It congratulates Governor Murphy, Lieutenant Governor Sheila Oliver and their inauguration ceremony.
LCV New Jersey was the first to endorse Governor Murphy for 2017 and 2021. It is thrilled to see Governor Murphy, Lieutenant Governor Oliver start their second term.
Governor Murphy beat both historical trends, and the prevailing national sentiment. This successful campaign marked a first in more than 40 year that a Democratic New Jersey Governor won a second term.
We are proud to have supported Governor Murphy for a historic second term. We have ensured four more years of environmental action with New Jersey’s investment in elections of more than a quarter of a billion dollars. Ed Potosnak is the Executive Director of New Jersey LCV.We look forward working with Governor Murphy to address some of the most pressing environmental problems in our state, including climate change and environmental racism.
According to Potosnak’s first term, Governor Murphy was one of the nation’s most prominent environmental champions. He was also the Greenest Governor in America. He worked aggressively to expand clean energy and created a world-leading offshore wind programme. He also signed a landmark environmental justice bill and worked to remove lead pipes so that all New Jerseyans have clean drinking water.
The Governor’s record of pro-conservation was crucial in motivating environmental voters to vote and bringing them to their polls. We saw environmental champions elected across the board, as well as the Governor being reelected by voters due to his strong proenvironment record.
These election results are a clear call to the Governor and legislative leaders for continued boldness in environmental protection. This means that we can move forward with our clean energy goals in the state by investing in NJ Transit, ending diversions from Clean Energy Fund, and changing the way our homes heat and cool. We also need to address health hazards such as poor indoor air quality. Potosnak.We are at a historical moment in New Jersey’s history. Now is the time for Governor Murphy’s pro-conservation vision to be built upon and to continue delivering real results for New Jersey’s environment and its people.
