A Central government expert appraisal committee recommended environmental clearance for the National Investment and Manufacturing Zone, (NIMZ), located at Zaheerabad, Sangareddy District, 120 kilometres from the state capital.
However, it was accompanied by some riders. Red category projects should be limited to one area. A minimum distance of 500-700 metres must be maintained between the industrial area boundary and the boundary for the hamlet.
The industrial project should not be surrounded by greenbelt or plantation.
Two hamlets Mungi tanda & Chilepally tanda should not be included in the project boundary that is located within Parcel 1 Land.
Avoid acquisition of fertile lands or agriculture. Agriculture is essential for food security and sustainable development.
All mitigation measures to reduce pollution listed in the Environmental Impact Assessment and Environment Management Plan report (EIA EMP), shall be implemented toto. All existing water bodies must be conserved and used to manage water effectively. No ground water shall ever be used. A green belt should be created around water bodies and settlements. At least 33% of the total area of the project must be kept.
EIA consultant L&T Infrastructure and Engineering Limited gave a presentation via videoconference to the officials concerned on March 24 and 25.
In the powerpoint presentation, it was mentioned that approximately 2,845 members can absorb during construction phase and that others will receive sill development training in a suitable location for their employment during the operational phase. 11,508 workers were available in 2025, with 7,200 being absorbed in the food processing, non metallic minerals and transport equipment industries. The rest of the workers can be absorbed by other sectors.
Skill development programs will be conducted for Project Affected Families through Telangna Academy of Skill and Knowledge and similar agencies.
TSIIC offers an option for relocation.
NIMZ is intended to create direct and indirect employment for 2.66 million. Locals get a significant share. TSIIC stated that at least one job would be available for PAF victims of land loss. If there is more than one person in the family, they will be given preference based on their skills.
EAC has recommended NIMZ, which means that the environment clearance was almost complete. An officer involved in the process said that we still need to obtain an order from Ministry of Environment and Forest.
