The Museum of Barnstaple and North Devon opened this year’s Documentary Photography Open on Tuesday 22 February with the theme “Our Environment”.
The museum’s temporary exhibition gallery will host the Open until April 30th. It offers a platform for all photographers, amateurs and professionals. The exhibition features images from successful applicants who shared their favourite environments, whether they are natural, cultural, or social.
In the wake of COP26, the theme of ‘Our Environment’ was selected to reflect the impact of climate change on people’s minds. The exhibition features 40 images that were taken in North Devon. These images are meant to help answer the brief of documenting the loss in this beautiful region.
Visitors to the Open can vote for their favourite image. The winner of the poll will receive a certificate and $300 in prize money from competition sponsors.Jamaica Press.

It presents a great opportunity to showcase your work for anyone with an interest in photography. We received an amazing selection of images on the topic of “Our Environment”, with almost 200 images submitted by 96 people from all walks of photography, from amateurs to professionals.
“We hope to inspire people, give contemporary photographers valuable exposure, and provide visitors to the museum a rich and varied collection of captures from our beautiful region.
