Patna: The chairman of Bihar State Pollution Control Board Ashok Kumar Ghosh stressed Monday the importance of multidisciplinary research in order to better understand environmental conservation issues.
Ghosh opened a 12-day refresher course for chemistry at Patna University (PU) at Patna Science College here. Ghosh noted that the National Education Policy, 2020, also stressed the need to adopt a multi-disciplinary approach in framing a course’s curriculum.
He also asked for baseline data in various fields to be generated with respect to Bihar, so that a model could develop on aspects such as solid waste management, pollution and biomedical. He said that Chemistry plays a major role in all of these fields.
Ghosh asked teachers to encourage curiosity and inquisitiveness towards analytic research in students so that they become good scientists and can contribute to the scientific progress of the country.
Atul Aditya Pantdey, Centre director, said that 23 chemistry professors from different universities in the state are taking part in the course.
