Amy Westervelt, an investigative journalist, started Critical Frequency podcast company that has some of the most engaging climate and environmental podcasts available today.

Podcasts are becoming increasingly popular, so it’s not surprising that there are many podcasts on environmental topics. No matter your interest in green tech or climate change, there is a podcast that will appeal to you. Here’s a list of the top podcasts.

Amy Westervelts, investigative journalist and podcast company Critical Frequency has launched some the most engaging ecopodcasts available today. One is Inherited. This podcast is a narrative podcast created by, for and about young climate activists. Each episode explores a different aspect of what the next generation will do with the climate-compromised world it inherits. Critical Frequency also has Drilled, a narrative and investigative podcast about climate accountability, which Westervelt hosts and produces. Drilled is the most downloaded climate podcast. It discusses the role of fossil fuel industries in spreading climate denial. The latest offering from Critical Frequency, Damages, is a courtroom drama podcast that tracks hundreds of climate lawsuits around the globe in an effort to highlight activists’ quest for justice in the greatest crime against humanity, human-induced global climate change. The first season explores “rights-of-nature” laws, which bring Indigenous approaches to nature into Western judicial systems by giving ecosystems the same rights as individuals.

Sea Change Radio is another great resource for long-form audio on topics related to green issues. This radio show and podcast, which has 700 shows in its archive over the past 16 years, is nationally syndicated. Alex Wise, a veteran host interviews activists, entrepreneurs, and policymakers to get insider information on various climate initiatives in the U.S.A and around the world. The weekly Nature Podcast features research from the scientific journal Nature. Nature. Each week’s edition includes interviews with scientists who are behind some of the most remarkable environmental research currently underway. Topics range from astronomy and zoology.

How to Save the Planet is another podcast that will keep you informed about environmental activism. It’s a weekly podcast by Friends of the Earth. It features stories from the frontlines of the climate movement, while explaining complex issues like eco-anxiety and environmental racism in language that anyone can understand. Another podcast, Sustainababble, combines humor with climate and environment coverage thanks to Oliver Hayes’ and David Powell’s witty repartees. They interview a variety of experts to help untangle complex environmental concepts and expose the greenwashing that pervades so many of the information spheres.

Climate Connections Podcast may be the right podcast for those with shorter attention spans. Anthony Leiserowitz (a Yale University human geographer who studies public perceptions about climate change) hosts this daily audio podcast that is 90 seconds long. It explains how the climate crisis has already shaped our lives and what we can to do about it. The show aims at highlighting positive solutions to reduce climate-related risk and wasteful energy practices.
