Islamabad – The government is considering a proposal that would give autonomy to all environmental bodies, allowing them to function freely without political interference.
According to the details, Malik Amin Aslam (Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Climate Change) is supportive of this idea. He is willing and able to talk to the province governments to implement it in the provinces. The National Climate Change Policy also stated that the environmental bodies should have financial independence and be able to implement the environmental agenda according to international standards.
The federal climate change ministry provides financial assistance to environmental agencies working in the capital. The provincial ministries are responsible for the financial needs of their respective environment bodies.
To ensure sustainable and environmentally-friendly development, both the federal and provincial environmental agencies play an important part. They issue reports detailing the environmental impact of development projects. They can raise objections to any uplift project. The Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency, or Pak-EPA, has played an important part in protecting the natural world amid large-scale development projects in Islamabad.
Malik Amin Aslam, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Climate Change, stated that Prime Minister Imran Khan wants the environmental bodies to be independent and do their best to protect the natural environment.
He stated that the environmental bodies should not be under the ministry but should be completely autonomous and powerful so they can carry out their work without political interference.
However, we can make sure that there is no negative interference from our side in the current structure. He stated that we will achieve our goal to make them autonomous in coordination avec the provincial authorities.
