Qatar Chemical Company Ltd (Q-Chem) participated in the ‘Waste-Free Environment’ campaign (WFE) on March 10 at Al Wakra Family Beach.
WFE was launched by the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association, and is an annual global environmental campaign that is organized in the region and around the globe.
The initiative involves many stakeholders, including government entities and educational institutions.
WFE promotes the 3Rs principle – Reduce Reuse, Recycle – and is moving towards the circular economic concept. It encourages a more responsible attitude to waste disposal and the need to address environmental issues. It aims to educate the public on the benefits of sustainability and to increase awareness among corporate and public alike about the amount of waste disposed in the Gulf.
The event attracted over 700 volunteers from different educational institutions and entities.
Q-Chem is committed towards the sustainable preservation of the environment and increasing awareness in the community. Q-Chem, through WFE and other environmental programs, raises awareness about the problem of waste disposal and collaborates with stakeholders to find solutions. It also supports local communities in these efforts,” a statement said.
