Quiogue: Town works to repair roads and protect the environment

Town Works To Repair Roadway, Protect Environment In Quiogue

QUIOGUE NY The highway department of Southampton Town is committed to maintaining Quiogue’s roads and protecting the environment.

Highway personnel took initiative to replace the failing curb on South Country Road, just east from the intersection with Old Meeting House Road, under the direction and leadership of Charles McCardle (new Highway Superintendent).

Officials stated that the structure is an important pass-through for the Old Ice Pond and Quantuck Creek before they open into Quantuck Bai.

McCardle stated, “We moved quickly in order to support the failing headwall at the south side.” “The repairs will make roads safer and reduce the impact on the estuary’s natural habitat.

South Country is a well-traveled road. The surrounding area, which includes Quogue Wildlife refuge and Fairy Dell Boardwalk, are also a popular destination.

McCardle also said that they are installing a new kayak ramp with stairs. “People will enjoy Quantuck Creek more, especially the scenic views.”
