Acast has released a study exploring how podcasts can provide a safe space for women’s health- and wellness conversations, and the brands and products that support them. The Center for Intimacy Justice published a report earlier in the year that found Facebook rejects many ads related to women’s wellness conversations and products. This is more than ads for men’s sexual products.

What about podcasts? Acast’s research shows that podcasts are a safe space for these important conversations. It also features products that focus on women’s health, sexuality, and reproduction. Listeners expect these conversations from podcasts, with 92% of podcast listeners saying that they are open to listening to such conversations and 57% saying that they expect podcast hosts and guests covering these topics.

The survey also revealed that 38% of podcast listeners expect ads to cover sensitive or less-spoken-about subjects. When asked what topics they would like advertisers to cover, the top five responses were:

  1. Mental health (74%)
  2. Money problems and debt (57%)
  3. 54 percent: Medical or health issues
  4. Sexual health (50%)
  5. Suicide (48%)
