Watsons stores have joined forces to be more mindful of energy consumption. This has led to a 17% reduction in energy intensity from 2015.
Watsons has provided 22 wellness seminars to its employees and counting to help them deal with the pandemic.
Plastic waste is unacceptable
Watsons was able to recycle 833,000 plastic containers last 2021 thanks to Plastic Bank.
Watsons hosted its first Do Good For Earth, Sa Watsons Ako webinar in 2022. Two resource persons shared valuable insights about how waste management and recycling impact global warming.
Commissioner Crispian lao, chair of the National Solid Waste Management Commission, was joined by David Katz, President, CEO, and President of Plastic Bank to discuss global warming and the benefits and advantages of recycling.

The Watsons DO GOOD webinar was moderated by Anna Oposa, Save Philippine Seas’ environment advocate. It covered important topics like how people can help conserve the environment thru the 3Rs (Reuse. Recycle. Refill), the relationship between solid waste management and climate changes, the impact of recycling in the environment, economy, and community, and future activities to be jointly conducted by Plastic Bank and Watsons Philippines.
Solid waste management
Lao is a strong advocate of the environment through proper waste management. During the webinar, Lao spoke about the country’s Solid Waste Management Programs and its practical aspects like what household items can still be recycled.
David Katz, Plastic Banks Director, spoke about how social plastic can help poor communities access basic needs such as water and food.
