Polymeron wins $1 MillionOmniprenuership Award-Sustainability Branch
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, March 29, 2022/PRNewswire/ – Under the patronage His Excellency, Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Eng. Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Mohsen Al-FadleyTanmiah Food Company (TFC), was announced as the winner of the Omniprenuership Award – Sustainability Branch.
2020 US$1 MillionPolymeron was awarded the grand challenge for their innovative solution to transform poultry bio-waste into a renewable and valuable source. They have developed technology that can make an environment-friendly biodegradable composite material out of biochar. This innovative material will tackle plastic pollution and poultry waste. It will also enrich soil quality, which will help TFC reduce its carbon footprint. Polymeron is a startup from the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology’s “Taqadam” accelerator.
This challenge was designed to find a solution to process chicken farm waste in an economically viable and commercially viable way to make a positive impact on TFC, as a corporate entity, and on the environment in general. Kingdom of Saudi Arabiaand eventually, the global ecosystem. Nearly 93 participants from around the world have taken part in this grand challenge. The four other shortlisted organisations for this challenge were: Insectum of King Abdullah University of Science and Technology KAUST, Proteinea of EgyptAnd USAGreenfield, South Korea, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University China.
