Schools must offer an environmental studies class

Require environmental studies class in schools

The environment is constantly under threat in the modern world. This is the challenge that famous and respected politicians address.

Many people believe they are unable to make changes that will improve the environment.

This is a big misconception. Individuals can take part in a variety of activities to practice sustainability and fight environmental issues directly.

It is important to make changes in our education system to achieve environmental harmony.

The more we educate youth about their ecological footprint, the more likely it is that they will change and be motivated to solve these problems.

Tiffany DellaVentura, Griswold High School Environmental Studies teacher, talks to her class Thursday before starting Harvard Forest Schoolyard Ecology research study on trails at the school.

This is why I filed a petitionto establish a course in environmental studies required for graduation from high school.

The course will provide Tennessee youth with simple ways to make their lives more environmentally-friendly.

It is also a simple course. Our main goal is to educate the future generation on environmental issues. I hope that many, if not all, counties in Tennessee will mandate an environmental course.

I took environmental science as a sophomore in highschool. This course provided valuable insight into many environmental problems and solutions.

In this photo provided by climate scientist Rob Jackson, researcher Colin Finnegan injects an ethane tracer to measure kitchen chamber volume in Stanford, Calif., in 2021. According to a study published Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022, in the journal Environmental Science & Technology, gas stoves are worse for the climate than previously thought because of constant tiny methane leaks even while theyre off.

It inspired me to start my own company called Sustainable Reasoning. We advocate global environmental harmony through a series blogs, campaigns and events.

Many people now feel it is too late. This is a dangerous feeling of hopelessness, despair, and dejection.

Humans have many resources at their disposal. If they use them intelligently, they can stop the destruction of our planet. We must realize that the Earth’s future is entirely in our hands. This means that we will need to change our lifestyles to encourage others to do so.
