Cecil Castellucci is the New York Times Bestselling Author of the comic. The comic features artwork by Flavia Biondi and Fabiana Mascolo as well as Steve Wands. Shifting Earth Castelucci’s hopes, fears, and thoughts about the real world and its deteriorating environments is reflected in this story. The story will follow two scientists as they attempt to prevent a climate crisis on the planet. Similar conditions to the current climate of Earth.
After a freak particle tornado, Dr. Maeve Lindsay, botanist, discovers herself on a strange parallel planet. Nature is the dominant force on this planet. But tragedy will soon strike and change the society. Astronomer Zuzi dedicates her efforts to preventing the disaster and connects with Maeve who did the exact same thing for her climate-stricken Earth. Both women will have the challenge of saving their homes and preventing the blight that is resembling the real world.
Shifting Earth Berger Books has released another graphic novel that focuses exclusively on climate change. James Romsberger’s Post York This takes place in New York after it’s been flooded due to melting ice caps from global warming. This can be visualized using new AI technology. Meanwhile, Rewild Yana Adamovic and Devin Grayson mix magic and fable to create a story about the environment and their anger at humans’ disregard of nature. In the Dark Horse Comics Announcement, Castellucci recounts her inspirations for writing the graphic novel:
“During the pandemic, I spent a lot time removing seeds from my kitchen, worrying over climate change, and listening a lot to science lectures. But I didn’t want Shifting Earth to be doom and gloom, because I think that there are ways for us to imagine hopeful futures. We have to fight right here for our world. This is my attempt balance the reality of our times and the nature of human hearts with the hope of a true exchange.
Castellucci previously worked on Dark Horse titles in the Disney and Critical Role worlds.
