Scientists convert Central Park into a climate lab to study environmental effects

NEW YORK —Many New Yorkers believe that city parks are their only way to enjoy the outdoors. However, climate change is threatening our green spaces. 

Scientists are now turning the page. Central ParkIn a climate lab, you can research how the park has been impacted and find new ways of protecting it.

Chris Wragge spoke to Salmaan Khan, Director of Research and Special Projects at Central Park Conservancy, about the new project.

“The public’s access to open, public green space is at risk. Khan explained that the park itself is at risk of being destroyed, hurt, or damaged just like any other space.
