Solar Sister’s mission is to eradicate energy poverty through women’s sustainable energy entrepreneurship and climate change leadership. We empower rural women to lead climate action through local, field-based staff who recruit, train & support the women entrepreneurs to deliver solar and clean cooking solutions to off-grid communities.

Solar Sister currently has over 6,700 entrepreneurs. They have reached more than 2.9 million people with clean electricity and offset more than 908,394 carbon equivalent emissions. Solar Sister uses innovative data sets to help women who work in the last mile identify customers most in need.

A portion of the program revenue will be used to fund a grant program that supports emerging organizations and individuals in advancing the causes highlighted in the Anthem Awards.
