The FAA, which issues commercial launches licenses, is conducting an environmental review to determine if/how the Super Heavy rocket or Starship spacecraft could impact Boca Chica. This is an area outside Brownsville where SpaceX is currently developing these vehicles.

This review must be completed before Super Heavy or Starship can launch into orbit.
The environmental review was to have been completed by the end of last calendar year. It was delayed until the end this month. The FAA then stated that it will complete the review by the end of next month.
The draft environmental review received more than 19,000 comments. The FAA also consults and coordinates with other agencies.
