The Starke County Environmental Management residential household hazardous waste collection event is set for Saturday, May 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. CT at the Recycle Center at 3835 E. 250 N. in Knox.
Televisions can be purchased for $25 per set. This includes unlimited appliances, one computer monitor, unlimited CPUs, keyboards, and printers.
Acceptable household hazardous waste includes oil and oil filters, household batteries, mercury thermometers, pet spray and dip, poisons, pesticides and herbicides, chemicals and ammonia, oil-based paints/solvents/thinners, cleaners, insecticide, waste fuels/gasoline/antifreeze, fluorescent tubes, aerosols, pool supplies, and adhesives and glues.
Residents can accept hazardous waste in unlimited quantities from their homes. It cannot include industrial or commercial waste.
The following items will not be accepted: Latex paint, tires, residential garbage, furniture, or construction debris.
