Beyond Ukraine: infrastructure and clean energy key components of the State of the Union Speech
WASHINGTONIn his first State of the Union address, President Joe Biden urged Congress for a set of clean energy tax credit and other environmental programs. He stated that his plan will reduce energy costs for families by an average of $500 per month, while combatting climate change. He said, Let’s provide tax credits for weatherization of your homes and businesses. In return, you get a credit. America will double its clean energy production in solar and wind. Electric vehicles will be cheaper, which will save you $80 each month.

The latest IPCC Report rings the alarm bells: It is now time to take action on climate change. President Biden has presented a commonsense, practical and achievable plan to reduce emissions. The president called on Congress to make electric vehicles more affordable, reduce energy consumption, and increase their ability to harness solar and wind power. Congress should support the president’s call for action, and quickly pass legislation that will ensure a safe and healthy future for our children, grandchildren, and ourselves.
Environment Americas Washington Legislative Office Executive Director Lisa FrankThe following statement was made:
Thanks to new funding, our union infrastructure is improving. We now have safer roads, bridges, cleaner transportation options, and clean water coming out of our taps. The future of our unions could be brighter or it could be more polluted, more damaged by natural disasters, and hotter. Congress has at its disposal a package of clean-energy and environmental investments that would go far in addressing climate change. This includes tax credits that make it easier for Americans to go to solar or purchase the electric vehicles that dominated this year’s Super Bowl TV ads. It is time for Congress to vote in favor of a brighter and better future.
