HULL — Superintendent Judith Kuehn is pleased to announce that students at Hulls Memorial Middle School recently participated in the Town of Scituate St. Patricks Day Parade.

This parade is the largest on the South Shore for St. Patrick’s Day. Heather Weber, a grade 6 teacher, and team advisor, was among the 13 middle school students who participated in the event.

The green theme of St. Patrick’s Day inspired the students to create a banner and signs to show the community that the team is interested in protecting the environment, and promoting sustainable living.

Weber said that the students showed everyone that the younger generation truly cares about the world and were able to demonstrate this to all who attended the parade. Everyone had a lot fun and many people cheered for us as we were.

The Memorial Middle School, along with Hull High School, is one of almost 200 schools in the state participating in the Green Team program. Green Team is an interactive educational programme that empowers students as well as teachers to protect the environment by reducing waste, recycling, composting and energy conservation. It is presented by Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection.

MMS has organized many events to promote environmental causes. This includes a bottle-and-can collection drive to raise funds for Hull Seaside Animal Rescue.
