Lei Feng International Volunteer Team of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics organised a day-long awareness drive in China’s Jiangxi region to raise awareness and encourage more people to protect the environment.
The initiative, which had the theme “Everyone participates to environmental protection and builds green earth,” was held in Nanchang city’s Meiling tourist area on Sunday.
The university’s Overseas Education School provided support and cooperation, so members of the voluntary group were able to hold various activities that day.
Around 15 international students enrolled at Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics participated in the event.
Volunteers distributed leaflets about environmental protection to both locals and tourists as part of the campaign. They also cleaned up tourist and mountain areas.
Mohammad Saiyedul Islam (Chinese: Wudi), a student at the university from Bangladesh, was the first one to take the initiative to create the voluntary organization.
He said, “As human beings all have a responsibility towards the society. We all belong to the same family, earth. Many of its resources are vulnerable because of human actions in different countries.
“We raised awareness among people about environmental protection. Our efforts were also appreciated by tourists and local Chinese people.”
The volunteers said that Lei Feng, a People’s Liberation Army Soldier (PLA), was a cultural icon and household name in China.
He is an icon of volunteerism in all countries.
When we think Li Feng we think selflessness and humility, dedication, modesty and commitment. We want to spread LeiFeng’s sprits, deeds, and spirit to the rest of world by doing good and meaningful acts, they said.
Lei Feng International Volunteer Team began their journey with a group of enthusiastic, enterprising young people from different countries who were studying at Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics. Their slogan was “For a smile.”
This volunteer team helps children with special needs, orphans and old age people, environmental protection awareness, career advancement of students, and other issues.
